Qatar begins administering booster dose of Covid-19 vaccine

Qatar began to inoculate the third COVID-19 vaccine dose for all individuals who had their second dose of the vaccine more than eight months ago. The booster vaccine doses that will be administered are from Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna.

The first citizen to receive the third dose was Dr Abdulla Juma A Al-Kubaisi, former president of Qatar University, at Madina Khalifa health center this morning. He was also the first person to receive the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid 19 vaccine in Qatar during the first phase of the vaccination programme.

This follows the recent announcement by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) stating that the first few months will focus on individuals most at risk of severe infection.
