Zendaya on The Odyssey: ‘A Dream with Tom Holland’

Zendaya admits she never imagined sharing the screen with her husband Tom Holland in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. The actress calls the experience a “dream”, describing how special it felt to join him in the star-studded epic.

She recalls being “over the moon” when Tom first got the call from Nolan, proud of his casting as Telemachus. What surprised her was receiving a second call that brought her into the project as Athena. “Never did it cross my mind that a second call would be coming to our home”, she said, adding that sharing the journey with Tom was “absolutely the dream”.

Zendaya explained how Tom encouraged her to revisit the script, hinting at her role. She laughed about the moment, saying she thought he was joking until she realized Nolan wanted her in the film. For her watching Tom work in this context was both inspiring and deeply personal.
Tom described the moment as a “gift”, knowing how much Zendaya admired Nolan’s work, especially Interstellar. He shared how Nolan asked if he would mind Zendaya joining the cast, and Tom eagerly agreed. Delivering the news to his wife became one of his favorite memories, as he would watch her excitement unfold.

Together, the couple now celebrated not only their marriage but also a cinematic milestone, starring side by side in Nolan’s ambitious retelling of The Odyssey.
