Sandeep Reddy Vanga Sparks Buzz with Cryptic Post Amid Deepika Padukone’s Exit from Spirit
Renowned filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga has set social media abuzz with a strongly worded post, which many believe is directed at actor Deepika Padukone. The cryptic message comes shortly after Deepika exited his upcoming film Spirit, and Triptii Dimri was announced as her replacement.
Although Vanga didn’t name names, his pointed words hinted at betrayal and questionable PR strategies, drawing attention to the behind-the-scenes drama. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Vanga wrote, “When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith. There is an unsaid NDA between us. But by doing this, you’ve ‘DISCLOSED’ the person you are… Putting down a younger actor and dismissing my story? Is this the feminism you talk about?”
This statement is widely believed to be a response to recent reports suggesting that Deepika was uncomfortable with some bold sequences in the film and backed out, leading to Triptii’s inclusion. Vanga continued, “As a filmmaker, I put years of hard work into my craft. You didn’t get it. You never will. Next time, say the whole story… because frankly, I don’t care anymore.” He ended with a Hindi proverb, “Khundak mein billi khamba noche,” hinting at jealousy as the root of the chaos.
The controversy gained momentum after a Pinkvilla report revealed plot details about Spirit, describing it as a classic Telugu entertainer with an edgy, adult-rated action twist. The report also noted that Vanga sought an actress comfortable with the bold narrative and assured a professional environment on set.
Soon after the cast change was confirmed, Triptii Dimri—who previously worked with Vanga in Animal—shared her excitement on Instagram, writing, “Still sinking in. I’m so grateful to be trusted with this journey.” Spirit stars Prabhas in the lead and is being produced by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures.
As speculation continues over whether Deepika’s departure was creative or personal, one thing’s certain: Spirit has already stirred strong emotions—long before its release.
