‘RRR’ beats ‘Top Gun’ to Win Big at Hollywood Critics Association Awards

With “RRR” winning four awards at the Hollywood Critics Association Awards, director SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus is continuing to make waves on the international stage as the Oscar race heats up.

The movie defeated Tom Cruise’s “Top Gun: Maverick” to win the awards for Best International Film, Best Action Film, Best Stunts, and Best Original Song for the Oscar-nominated song “Naatu Naatu.”

As Rajamouli took to the stage, he was joined by actor Ram Charan to accept the Best International Film award.

“I didn’t expect to come up on stage. I was just told by my director to accompany him. Thank you so much for giving us all this love,” Charan said. “It’s a great response, so we are going to come back with better films and entertain you all. Thank you so much.”

All eyes are now focused on the movie’s performance at the Oscars, which are scheduled to be hosted on March 12 at the Dolby Theatre in New Angeles. The movie is now gaining pace and has won awards at the Critics Choice Awards and Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles this year.
