BTS RM Named Global Ambassador of Nat’l Museum of Korea

The National Museum of Korea has embarked on a new journey with BTS leader RM as its first global ambassador. On June 19, the museum appointed RM, whose real name is Kim Nam-Joon, to promote Korean cultural heritage worldwide. Moreover, his appointment marks a historic milestone in the museum’s effort to connect with global audiences.

RM joined Director Yoo Hong-Jun to view the exhibition Members Railways, Drawing the Era and explored various collection at the museum. In addition, his visit highlighted his longstanding passion for Korean culture and his commitment to preserving heritage.

The singer has consistently supported cultural preservation. For example, in 2021 and 2022, he donated 100 million won each to the Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation to aid restoration projects abroad. Furthermore, as an avid art collector, RM will showcase works from his personal collection at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art this October.

As global ambassador, RM will participate in promotional activities and help introduce Korean history and traditional culture to international audiences. Consequently, his influence is expected to amplify the museum’s reach. “I will do my best to help more people appreciate the beauty and value of our cultural heritage,” RM said.

Director Yoo Hong‑Jun expressed confidence in RM’s role, noting that his influence will raise the museum’s global profile. Indeed, he emphasized, “It is meaningful to share the beauty of our cultural heritage with the world together with RM.”

Ultimately, by bridging past and present, RM and the National Museum of Korea aim to connect Korea’s cultural treasures with audiences across the globe.
