Marvel Studios shook CinemaCon with the first full trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, unveiling Robert Downey Jr. in a dramatic new role as Doctor Doom.
Kevin Feige closed Disney’s Las Vegas presentation by teasing the film’s scale, noting that Doomsday picks up where Avengers: Endgame left off and introduces the Avengers to the X-Men. Returning directors Joe and Anthony Russo emphasized Doom’s complexity, describing him as “always three moves ahead”.
Downey made a surprise entrance to the Rolling Stones Sympathy for the Devil, telling the crowd he never imagined reuniting with Marvel as a new character. The trailer revealed his masked Doom, alongside Chris Hemsworth’s Thor warning the heroes of the looming threat: “We are going to need a miracle.” This footage ended with Chris Evans wielding Thor’s hammer, stunning audiences before joining Hemsworth on stage.
The trailer marked the most extensive look at the film yet, following teasers that spotlighted Steve Rogers, Thor, Shuri, Wakanda, and the Fantastic Four. Downey’s casting as Doom had been kept under wraps, despite a brief masked cameo in Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Set for the release on December 18, 2026, Avengers: Doomsday reunites the Russo brothers with much of the Endgame and Infinity War team, positioning the film as a likely box office giant. Disney also used the event to announce its new premium large-format certification, Infinity: Vision, debuting with the September rerelease of Avengers: Endgame.
CinemaCon attendees left buzzing, with Doomsday, now firmly established as one of the most anticipated films of 2026.
