The King of Pop returns to the big screen. Antoine Fuqua’s long-awaited biopic Michael premiered in Los Angeles on Monday, sparking a wave of first reactions after its Berlin debut. U.S audiences got their first look ahead of the global release on April 24, with full critics’ reviews dropping on April 22.
The film traces Jackson’s journey from Motown beginnings to solo superstardom, powered by his legendary catalog. Produced by Graham King, Michael stars Jaafar Jackson as his iconic uncle, with Juliano Krue Valdi as young Michael and Colman Domingo and Nia Long as his parents.
The ensemble features Miles Teller, Kendrick Sampson, Larenz Tate, Liv Symone, and Kevin Shinick, alongside portrayals of Jackson’s siblings, though Janet is notably absent. With Fuqua’s direction, King’s pedigree, and Jackson’s timeless music, Michael is poised as a major cinematic event, inviting audiences to relive the magic and complexities of his extraordinary life.
