Shah Rukh Khan joined the chorus of tributes for legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle, who passed away at the age of 92 on April 12. In a heartfelt note on Twitter, he remembered her as a towering figure in Indian cinema whose voice will continue to resonate for generations. “Her voice has been one of the pillars of Indian cinema and will continue to resonate world over for centuries to come… she always showered me with blessings and love and I will miss her. Rest in Peace Asha Tai… love you,” he wrote.
Over the years, Bhosle lent her voice to several films featuring Khan, including the iconic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge track Zara Sa Jhoom Loon Main, which remains a fan favorite and a symbol of the film’s enduring legacy.
Doctors admitted Bhosle to Breach Candy Hospital with cardiac and respiratory issues before she passed away. Her family placed her mortal remains at her residence, Casa Grande in Lower Parel, for the public to pay respects, and they conducted the last rites later that evening.
Tributes poured in from across the nation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi described her as one of India’s most versatile voices whose musical journey enriched the country’s cultural heritage. He emphasized that her songs will continue to inspire and remain part of people’s lives for years to come.
