Sony Unleashes Bloodborne Dark World on the Big Screen

Sony Pictures confirmed that Bloodborne, one of PlayStation’s most iconic titles, will become an animated movie. Sanford Panitch, president of Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group, announced at CinemaCon that the adaptation will stay “very true” to the game’s gory, gothic essence.

Sony expanded its lineup of video game adaptations with this project. The studio is also producing a live-action Legend of Zelda directed by Wes Ball, starring Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and Bo Bragason as Link and Princess Zelda under the guidance of Shigeru Miyamoto. At the same time, director Justin Lin is leading Helldivers.

Variety reported that Lyrical Media is co-financing Bloodborne, while PlayStation Productions, Lyrical Animation, and gamer-creator Seán McLoughlin (Jacksepticeye) are co-producing. McLoughlin, who has more than 48 million fans, brings his deep connection to the game into the project. Sony has not revealed plot details, casting, or a release date.

FromSoftware developed Bloodborne and Sony Interactive Entertainment published it. The game immerses players in a gothic city filled with terrifying creatures, brutal challenges, and mysterious lore. Fans still debate its secrets years later, cementing its reputation as one of the greatest video games ever made.

By promising a faithful adaptation, Sony set expectations that the film will capture the eerie atmosphere and relentless spirit that define Bloodborne.
