Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater have officially ended their relationship nearly three years after it first made headlines. The pair met in 2022 while working on the film adaptation of Wicked and began dating the following summer. Their split has surprised fans, but sources close to Ariana say she is “doing great” and fully focused on her career.
According to outlets including People, TMZ, and USA TODAY, the couple quietly broke up months ago but remain friends. “Ariana and Ethan broke up several months ago but they’ve remained friends since then and have nothing but respect and admiration for one another,” a source told Page Six.
Insiders add that Ariana is channeling her energy into her Eternal Sunshine Tour and her upcoming album Petal, set for release on July 31. “She seemed very happy. It’s all been very positive vibes,” one source told People, noting that reconnecting with fans has been emotional and exciting for her.
Grande, 32, launched her tour on June 6, six years after her Sweetener WorldTour. Slater, 34, continues his Broadway career while co-parenting his son Ezra with estranged wife Lilly Jay.
The couple’s romance first surfaced in July 2023, shortly after both had separated from their spouses. Though they kept their relationship mostly private, Slater occasionally shared glimpses of their life together, including holiday photos. Grande defended him in a 2024 Vanity Fair interview, calling tabloid portrayals “inaccurate” and praising his character.
With their breakup now public, Ariana is embracing a new chapter defined by music, touring, and creative renewal. Fans can expect her to bring fresh energy to the stage as she closes one era and steps into another.
