John Travolta reached a new milestone at the Cannes Film Festival with his directorial debut, Propeller One-Way Night Coach, adapted from his 1997 children’s book. The project carries extra meaning for him, as his daughter, Ella Travolta, stepped into the spotlight with her first acting role.
On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Travolta couldn’t hide his pride when a clip of Ella appeared on screen. Smiling, he declared, “A star is born, right?” His joy came during a week of honors, including receiving the prestigious Honorary Palme d’Or for his decades of work across diverse roles.
Ella also reflected on the premiere in an interview with PEOPLE. She described the night as emotional and unforgettable: “I knew it was such a special night for my whole family that I made sure to put myself in the moment and really take it all in. It felt calm, beautiful, and very emotional.”
With Cannes celebrating both father and daughter, Travolta’s debut not only showcased his creative vision but also highlighted Ella’s promising future in film.
