Sam Neill Beats Cancer, Read for Big Screen Return

Jurassic Park star Sal Neill has announced he is cancer-free after nearly five years battling stage-three blood cancer. The actor, beloved for his role as Dr. Alan Grant, told Australia’s 7News that chemotherapy kept him alive for years but eventually failed. “I was at a loss, and it looked like I was on the way out”, he recalled.

Neill then underwent CAR T-cell therapy, an advanced treatment that reprograms blood cells. The results were remarkable. “I’ve just had a scan and there is no cancer in my body”, he said. “I’m very, very excited that this can happen”.

The actor first revealed his diagnosis in 2023, after noticing swollen glands during promotion for Jurassic World Dominion. Despite the challenges, he remained candid about his outlook: “I’m not afraid to die, but it would annoy me. I’d really like another decade or two… I want to see my grandchildren grow up.”

Now cancer-free, Neill’s resilience and optimism shine through. His journey reflects both the promise of medical innovation and the enduring spirit of a performer determined to keep creating. Fans can look forward to his return to the big screen soon.
