In just two weeks, the Disney release has soared to $585 million worldwide, positioning itself as one of the year’s biggest hits. Moreover, analysts expect it to become the franchise’s top earner, with projections reaching $1.07 billion.
Supergirl Struggles to Lift Off
Meanwhile, DC’s Supergirl failed to take flight. The Craig Gillespie, directed spinoff opened with $38 million in North America and $30 million abroad, totaling $68 million worldwide against a $170 million budget. Superhero Genre Faces Decline

Obsession Breaks Records
On the horror front, Curry Barker’s Obsession continued its remarkable run. the micro-budget thriller earned $9.8 million in its seventh weekend, pushing its global total past $70 million. As a result, it now ranks as the sixth highest-grossing horror film in North America, surpassing The Exorcist.
Jackass and The Invite add Variety
Elsewhere, Jackass: Best and Last debuted with $10.3 million worldwide, a modest start compared to earlier franchise entries. Additionally, Olivia Wilde’s The Invite opened on seven screens with $379,104, posting one of the year’s strongest per-screen averages ahead of its wider release.
