THE BATMAN – PART II RECIEVES ANOTHER CASTING BLOW

Matt Reeves The Batman – Part II has been in development for years, surviving delays, strikes, and the collapse of DC’s previous franchise. With Robert Pattinson returning as Gotham’s Dark Knight in 2027, production is finally set to begin soon.

But the sequel has hit another casting snag. Industry insider Jeff Sneider reports that Robert De Niro declined the role of Christopher Dent, Harvey Dent’s father. Warner Bros and DC Studios haven’t confirmed the character’s involvement, but insiders believe he will play a major role. The studio has already approached other A-list stars including Daniel Craig, Stellan Skarsgard, and Brad Pitt, who also turned it down.

The Dent family appears central to the story, with Sebastian Stan reportedly cast as Harvey and Scarlett Johansson confirmed for a role believed to be Gilda Dent. If Harvey’s transformation into two-face unfolds, his family’s presence will be key.

De Niro’s absence is notable given his legacy in crime films like Goodfellas and The Irishman, and his past DC connection in Joker. His presence would have fit perfectly into Reeves’ “Epic Crime Saga”, vision of Gotham.

While losing De Niro is a blow, the search for Christopher Dent’s actor continues as production gears up in the UK. Whoever lands the role The Batman – Part II is already shaping up to be another star studded chapter in Reeves’ gritty Gotham saga.
