Beloved actor Song Jae Rim has passed away at the age of 39. He was found on the afternoon of November 12 in his apartment in Seoul’s Seongdong District. A two-page letter was also found at the scene. While the exact cause of death remains unconfirmed, authorities stated that there are no indications of foul play.
His funeral is taking place at Seoul Yeouido St. Mary’s Hospital, with family overseeing arrangements. The funeral procession is scheduled for noon on November 14, after which he will be laid to rest at the Seoul City Crematorium.
Born in 1985, Song Jae Rim first rose to fame with his role in the 2012 MBC drama The Moon Embracing the Sun. He became widely recognized for his performances in numerous dramas and films, including Inspiring Generation, Two Weeks, Goodbye Mr. Black, Surfing House, I Wanna Hear Your Song, Queen Woo, The Suspect, and Decoy. He was also well-loved for his appearance alongside actress Kim So Eun on the reality show We Got Married in 2014.
Song Jae Rim’s latest project, the drama My Military Valentine, premiered on an OTT platform this past June. He made a memorable appearance on MBC FM4U’s Good Morning FM in August, where he discussed his passion for diverse interests, sharing that he had recently trained in fragrance expertise and meat processing, humorously calling it his “future husband training.”
Fans have been stunned by the news of his untimely passing, as he had remained active in the entertainment industry until recently. His social media handle was also changed to “A Long Journey Begins,” raising further questions surrounding his sudden death.
