Sooryavanshi: Makers postpone the release of Akshay Kumar starrer owing to significant rise in COVID 19 cases

Sooryavanshi, starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in the lead, was slated to release in April this year.

It hasn’t been long when Akshay Kumar had made the headlines for his upcoming movie Sooryavanshi after the makers have announced the new release date for the movie. The much talked about cop drama by Rohit Shetty, which was initially expected to release in March 2020, was postponed due to COVID 19 pandemic and was now slated to release on April 30 this year. However, given the rise in COVID 19 cases across the country, the Sooryavanshi makers have once again decided to postpone the release of the movie.

The decision was made after Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had a discussion with Rohit regarding the release of Sooryavanshi. Following this, the Maharashtra CM appreciated Rohit’s decision to postpone the movie. To note, there has been a significant spike in the number of COVID 19 cases in India. In fact, the nation has reported over 1 lakh coronavirus cases today. On the other hand, Maharashtra has been reporting the maximum number of COVID cases these days. Given the crisis situation, the makers decided to postpone the release as of now. However, they are yet to finalise the new release date for Sooryavanshi as of now.

For the uninitiated, Sooryavanshi happens to be the new entry in Rohit’s cop universe. And while Akshay will be seen playing the role of a fearless cop in the movie, the cop drama will also feature Ajay Devgan and Ranveer Singh doing a cameo and reprising their roles of Bajirao Singham and Sangram Bhalerao respectively.
