Angelina Jolie Opens Up at Couture Screening

Angelina Jolie made a powerful entrance at the New York screening of her new film Couture on Tuesday night. The Oscar winner greeted fans outside The Whitby Hotel before stepping inside, radiating elegance in a Tom Ford strapless draped gown paired with patent leather vertigo ankle straps pumps. She later layered a cream-colored jacket over the look, adding a softer touch to her striking ensemble.

In Couture, Jolie portrays Maxine, an American filmmaker diagnosed with breast cancer while working in Europe. The role resonates deeply with her personal history, as her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, passed away from ovarian and breast cancer in 2007. Jolie herself underwent a preventive double mastectomy after discovering she carried the BRCA1 gene mutation.

Speaking to People, Jolie described the film as “a beautifully written piece about women from different countries.” She emphasized its message of empathy and resilience, noting that shared struggles can bring people closer and make them feel less alone.

Reflecting on her emotional journey, Jolie admitted, “I am not sure I was strong enough even five years ago to do this. To be open and trusting to share and be vulnerable again.” She acknowledged how life’s challenges can leave people feeling lost and isolated, yet highlighted the importance of rediscovering strength through vulnerability.

Jolie also honored her late mother saying, “I would have given anything to have my mother alive to be there for her grandchildren.” Her words carried added weight as her daughter Zahara Jolie recently filed to legally remove her father Brad Pitt’s name, underscoring the family’s ongoing personal transitions.

With Couture, Jolie not only delivers a poignant performance but also shares a piece of her own survival story, blending artistry with raw honesty.
