We are inviting you to spend a spell-binding musical night out on November 20, 2025, at the Qatar National Convention Centre, Auditorium 3, and it is going to begin at 7.30 PM and onwards. Qatar Philharmonic (QPO) under the direction of Felix Mildenberger will present a spectacular concert with Mussorgsky (Night on Bald Mountain), Rachmaninoff Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with world-renowned pianist Gerhard Oppitz, and Symphony No. 5 by the composer, Shostakovich- a performance that would be a lifetime experience for classical music lovers.
A Night of Timeless Classics
The concert will start with Night on Bald Mountain by Mussorgsky, a strong orchestral composition creating a bright image of a sabbath of witches on the mountain of darkness. Its intensity as drama prepares the viewer for the grandeur it entails.
Then, we will have Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. This legendary masterpiece, a blend of virtuosity and melodious music, earns broad renown for its marvellous variations on the well-known Paganini theme. Famous pianist Gerhard Oppitz will demonstrate his outstanding abilities in this performance, playing the solo piano role with a unique flair and correctness.
The evening closes with Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5, one of the most persuasive symphonic works of the 20th century. Shostakovich wrote this symphony under strong political influence, creating an immense outburst of emotional intensity that blends tragedy, triumph, and determination.
