Alia Bhatt’s Cannes Debut Delayed Amid India-Pakistan Tensions — Will She Still Walk the Red Carpet?
The prestigious 78th Cannes Film Festival kicked off on May 13 and will run until May 24, 2025. Among the anticipated appearances this year was Bollywood star Alia Bhatt, who was set to make her debut at the global film event as a brand ambassador for L’Oréal Paris. However, her red carpet plans may have been unexpectedly put on hold.
According to a report by Mid-Day, Alia was originally scheduled to fly to France over the weekend to attend the grand opening ceremony on May 13. But amid ongoing geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan, the actress reportedly chose to postpone her appearance as a sign of solidarity with India.
While her absence at the opening ceremony sparked speculation, there’s still a chance the actor might make it to the festival later in the week. As the source added, “The festival runs for 11 days, and while several activities were scheduled for her early in the event, she is still evaluating if she can attend in the coming days—depending on her commitments in India.”
With India and Pakistan showing signs of de-escalation following the recent ceasefire, fans are hopeful that Alia may still grace the red carpet before the festival concludes.
Stay tuned as we continue to track updates on whether Alia Bhatt will finally make her Cannes red carpet debut in 2025.
