Karan Johar Breaks Silence on Rekindled Bond with Kartik Aaryan: “Every Family Has Its Ups and Downs”

Karan Johar Opens Up About Rebuilding Friendship with Kartik Aaryan After Public Fallout

In a heartwarming turn of events, Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar has spoken candidly about mending his professional and personal ties with actor Kartik Aaryan after their highly publicized fallout in 2021. The duo, who had parted ways following Kartik’s exit from Dostana 2, are now collaborating on a new film titled Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri.

Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Karan shared that the reconciliation wasn’t dramatic, but rather a thoughtful and mutual decision. “We talked, cleared the air, and decided to move forward,” he said. “Kartik is a hardworking actor with a strong connection to the audience. His instincts with screenplays are sharp, and I respect that.”

Karan acknowledged their past differences but emphasized that the film industry is a tight-knit community. “Like in any family, there are moments of disagreement and misunderstandings. But good people come together to create good cinema. That’s what matters,” he added.

The fallout dates back to 2021 when Kartik’s exit from Dostana 2 made headlines. The film, originally announced in 2019 with Janhvi Kapoor and Kartik in the lead, was put on hold due to the pandemic. Later, Dharma Productions officially announced that the cast would be reconsidered, fueling rumors of a rift.

Fast forward to today, and all seems well. Kartik and Karan are currently working on Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, a romantic comedy also featuring Ananya Panday. Directed by Sameer Vidwans, known for SatyaPrem Ki Katha, the film is set to release on February 13, 2026. Kartik also has another big release coming up—Nagzilla, slated for August 14, 2026.

This renewed partnership between Karan Johar and Kartik Aaryan is a reminder that even in Bollywood, bridges can be rebuilt and creativity can thrive beyond past conflicts.
