The Ministry of Public Health announced that starting today, the Qatar Vaccination Center for Business and Industry will be closed permanently, after the center succeeded in playing its role in providing COVID-19 vaccines to workers in the business and industry sectors in the State of Qatar.
The ministry said in a statement that, since the start of the National COVID-19 Vaccination Program, the center has administered more than 1.6 million doses of vaccine to the target groups.
Senior Consultant Emergency Medicine at Hamad Medical Corporation and lead for the Qatar Vaccination Center for Business and Industry Sector Dr. Khalid Abdulnoor said his team were proud of the key role the facility played in vaccinating Qatars population.
“This Center played a pivotal role in supporting the safe roll-out of Qatars phased plan to lift COVID-19 restrictions by ensuring that service workers had access to the vaccine and were protected,” he said.
“We are proud to have been able to vaccinate so many key industry workers during this period and to help the community get back to normal.”
The facility, one of the largest vaccination centers in the world, has been the result of a unique collaboration between the Ministry of Public Health, Hamad Medical Corporation, Primary Health Care Corporation and Qatar Charity, with support from the Ministry of Interior and ConocoPhillips-Qatar.
The Center opened in April 2021 and at its peak, the Center had 300 vaccination stations and the 700 staff were facilitating the administration of up to 25,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines each day.
