Award winning Indian director Lokesh Kanagaraj who works primarily in the Tamil film industry has helmed a master-stroke with his latest action-thriller ‘Master’ for which he has also co-written the story, dialogues and screenplay.
Master’s storyline revolves around a young professor JD (portrayed brilliantly by Vijay) a charismatic star who has garnered a large fan-following thereby being billed as one of the highest paid actors in Tamil film industry.
JD an alcoholic who is sent on a three month teaching stint to a juvenile home run by Bhavani (played to perfection by the multi-talented Vijay Sethupathi) and uses the children in there for illegal activities and the rest of the movie deals with the titanic clash between the two amazingly talented actors.
The movie also stars Malavika Mohanan, Arjun Das, Andrea Jeremiah and Shanthanu Bhagyaraj in supporting roles.
Produced by Xavier Britto, under his maiden production studio XB Film Creators,[music for the movie is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, whilst cinematography and editing are handled by Sathyan Sooryan and Philomin Raj.
Master was initially planned for theatrical release on 9 April 2020, but was postponed due to the pandemic and producers preferred to wait for a theatrical release on 13 January 2021 in theatres, during Pongal – a festival celebrated primarily across South India, despite the digital streaming rights being sold to Amazon Prime Video.
A Master teaser was released during last November on SunTV ‘s Youtube channel and the movie is being distributed by Lalit Kumar under Seven Screen Studios.
Bit of a spoiler coming up… director Lokesh and co-writer Rathna Kumar both make cameo appearances in the film.
