Katy Perry has found herself in some hot water.
Last week, the 39-year-old singer released the music video for her new song “Lifetimes,” which she was filmed in Spain’s Balearic Islands.
Then on Tuesday (August 13), Environment Department of the Balearic Islands announced in a press release that they have launched an investigation into the production of the music video, allegedly that the production company failed to obtain the proper authorization to film at the protected sand dunes of Ses Salines Natural Park.
The Department is investigating the possibility that filming the video, directed by Stillz (aka Matias Vasquez), caused environmental damage to the beach.
In the music video, Katy, 39, can been seen dancing around in the sand dunes of S’Espalmador island, which are protected by ropes, seemingly indicating a prohibited area.
According to the press release, filming the “Lifetimes” music video in that area is not a “crime against the environment,” but rather an infringement.” The Department also noted that video production “can be authorized” through the proper channels.
As of right now, Katy has not publicly addressed the investigation.
